Led by flautist Kirsty Hetherington and harpist Sarah Goss, this course is a unique opportunity to work closely with a chamber music partner on some of the most beautiful repertoire written for this duo combination. Throughout the day the flautists will work separately with Kirsty and the harpists with Sarah on instrument-specific technical and musical issues before pairing up in the evening for chamber music sessions. In addition there will be:
• A Saturday early evening recital by Kirsty and Sarah
• An informal end of course concert to showcase the weekend’s work
• An Alexander Technique class with teacher Patrick Gundry-White
• Optional morning yoga classes with Sarah to get the day started
Aimed at adult amateurs and aspiring players of all ages, you can apply to come on this course as an existing flute & harp duo or as an individual performer. If applying as an individual you will be matched with an appropriate chamber music partner who could become a friend for life!
The course will be held at Whaley Hall, Reservoir Rd, Whaley Bridge, High Peak SK23 7BL.
There will also be free time to explore the beautiful surroundings with some of the Peak District’s most famous hills and valleys within striking distance, so we are offering the option to bring along a non-participating partner to share this with.
The residential course is fully-catered and accommodation is in twin or single bedrooms with shared bathrooms.
The cost is £230 for the weekend. Non-participating observers may attend for £175.
