Harp Concerto receives Rare Performance by Anna Quiroga

14 Jan 2016 2:30 PM | Alex Rider (Administrator)

Join the young harpist Anna Quiroga for a rare performance of the Concerto for harp and electronics, by Israeli composer Josef Tal. As part of the concert series ‘From the Soundhouse’, the performance will be hosted by Michael Oliva, on Monday 15th February at the Royal College of Music in London.  It will also be the opening event of the Harp Week at the RCM, organized by head of harp, Ieuan Jones.

This will be one of the very few performances of the Concerto, which was premiered in UK by the world renowned harpist Nicanor Zabaleta, to whom it was dedicated in 1972. The concerto is one of Tal’s first works with electronic music, with the aim of exploring a combination between one of the oldest instruments in history and the avant-garde.

About Anna: Anna Quiroga is an award-winning harpist who has recently graduated from a Masters Degree in Performance at the Royal College of Music, studying with Ieuan Jones, Rachel Masters and Daphne Boden. She has been generously supported by the Stanley Picker Award and the Agustí Pedro i Pons Foundation Scholarship. She is currently studying an Artist Diploma course in Solo Performance at the RCM and is being kindly supported by the Leverhulme Award and the charity Talent Unlimited.
