UNITED KINGDOM HARP ASSOCIATION
Eleanor Turner and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire invite you to Electro Harp Live, the world's first dedicated day of electronic and electro-acoustic harp music.
Performances of new music set the tone for the day: leading contemporary and electronic music harpist Milana Zarić from Belgrade headlines the event with Bussotti Fragmentations for one player on two harps, Saariaho's Fall and other contemporary electro-acoustic works. Ailie Robertson premieres a preview of her new electro show which she's written for Celtic Connections and Ranagrí (with harpist Eleanor Turner) give the first performance of their newly penned album, to be recorded later in January. Salvi Harps have generously sponsored this creative day of music making so that you can enjoy it all for free, as we believe this opportunity should be widely accessible to as many harpists AND non-harpists as possible, as you don't need to be a harpist to participate! Vanja Contu from Italy, Sonja Tavormina from Belgium and Joris Beets from Amsterdam/London will also perform and lead workshops. It's not about social media, or being modern; you won't find it mentioned on facebook or twitter, it's about having a taste of the University experience, a free platform for experimentation and creativity without judgement, pressure or performance at the end of it all. That said, 6 musicians are being offered the chance to create a new work, sponsored by Bow Brand Strings, assisted by composers Ailie Robertson and RBC's own James Dooley. There will be a presentation of this new work but it's not a 'performance'. 2 places still available for this opportunity. To participate, all you have to do is email Eleanor.Turner@bcu.ac.uk or follow the link http://eepurl.com/de2oUb and you'll be able to access the PDF booking form.
