A Time-Traveller’s Guide to the Harp in Medieval England, with Sarah Deere-Jones. The Medieval Music in the Dales 2018 Study Day.

Sarah Deere-Jones has collected over 200 images of the harp from Medieval England and also researched written evidence about its use and context in England In her illustrated presentation and the following workshops during the rest of the day, we will:

  • examine the iconography of the time
  • study the Medieval finger positions and posture
  • discuss the problems and difficulties of using iconography in research
  • test some of our resultant theories by playing arrangements of English medieval music together on our harps.

A fascinating and engaging hands-on session where the only requirements are enthusiasm and an open mind! Music will be provided, (all standards).
