'The unfolding story of the extraordinary life of a remarkable Welsh Victorian gentleman'
John Thomas rose from humble beginnings to become a world-renowned harpist, composer and teacher. The most notable 'claim to fame' for many was his position as official harpist to Queen Victoria, but his stature in the highest echelons of musical life of the day was exceptional. He was associated with the Royal Academy of Music for 60 years.
Sioned Williams will be researching the life and works of John Thomas. This first official RAM presentation will give the audience a glimpse of what is to come: a life story to unfold with historical facts, academic investigation and quotations, together with musical interludes.
